Apply for a school clothing grant and/or free school meals/milk

Applications for the 2024/25 school year are currently open.

To qualify for a school clothing grant and/or free school meals/milk, you must receive at least one of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Job Seekers Allowance (income-based)
  • Employment and support allowance (income-related)
  • Child Tax Credit only (total income below £19,995)
  • Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit (total income below £9,552)
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Universal Credit - including those with take-home pay of up to £796 per month
  • Long Term Incapacity Benefit (School clothing grant only)
  • Widow's Allowance - if not in full-time employment (School clothing grant only)
  • Child and Working Tax Credit with annual income below £18,725 (School clothing grant only)
  • Universal Credit, with monthly earned income of not more than £1,666 (School clothing grant only)

You will be asked to upload a copy of an award letter as evidence of the benefits you receive. These will be separate uploads for each benefit.

However, if you already receive Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction, these records will be used to determine your entitlement, therefore you will not need to upload evidence of the benefits you receive.
