Second success for Fife Council Jobs Fair

FIFE Council has celebrated another successful Jobs Fair.  The event, held in May at the Rothes Halls followed on from last September’s event in Dunfermline, which was the first of its kind to promote the wide range of job vacancies and career opportunities with Fife Council.

Organised in partnership with DWP, around 700 people came to find out about working with the council.  They had the opportunity to speak to current staff about vacancies on offer and what it's like to work with Fife Council.  A number of presentations also took place where people were able to learn about how to apply and more information about working with some of our services including Social Care, Admin/Clerical Education, Facilities Management and Active Schools.

Head of HR Sharon McKenzie said: "The turnout was really encouraging and we're keen to take it to other parts of Fife in future. It was a great opportunity to bring our vacancies to life with the chance to share first hand experiences from staff in a range of roles from catering and admin to adult social care and cleaning.”

Staff from IT, active schools, early years and pupil support, childcare and waste operations were on hand at various stalls and those who attended also had the opportunity to listen to presentations from the various services as well as the application process.

Staff from Fife Council’s Deaf Communication Service greeted people entering the event and were there to provide advice as well as assistance using British Sign Language for those attending presentations.

Sharon McKenzie continued: "Another great benefit on the day for those who attended was the chance to find out about the support available from staff in our job clubs and employability teams, who were there for informal chats about interests, skills and experience that would help match people to vacancies.”
