North East Fife Communities benefit from council funding boost

Cllr Jonny Tepp, North East Fife Area Committee Convener

Communities across North East Fife have been supported through a wide range of local projects and initiatives thanks to funding approved by the North East Fife Area Committee.

Over the past year, more than £300,000 has been invested from the Local Community Planning and Anti-Poverty budgets to support local groups, improve community spaces, and help tackle poverty and inequality.

This funding has helped deliver over 60 projects across the area – from community transport and warm spaces to food provision, mental health support, and activities for young people. It’s also supported improvements to parks, play areas, and community facilities, making a real difference to the places people live.

Councillor Jonny Tepp, Convener of the North East Fife Area Committee, said:“We’re proud of the strong partnerships we’ve built with local groups and organisations. This funding is about giving communities the tools and support they need to take action and make things better for everyone.

It’s fantastic to see the positive difference these projects are making in people’s lives – especially those who are struggling the most. From youth activities to warm spaces and support for older people, this is money well spent, and I want to thank everyone involved.”

Examples of supported projects include:

  • Warm spaces and community meals in St Monans, Anstruther and Cupar
  • Local food banks and pantries receiving funding to meet rising demand
  • Transport help for people in rural areas to attend appointments or social events
  • Mental health support groups and befriending services for people experiencing isolation
  • Family activities across North East Fife to increase opportunities for families to participate and engage
  • summer activities funded for young people across the 5 ward areas
  • Community gardens and outdoor spaces being developed for local use

Council staff have worked closely with local volunteers and organisations to deliver these projects, ensuring funding goes where it’s needed most.

Looking ahead, members of the North East Fife Area Committee have also approved the Local Community Planning and Anti-Poverty budgets for 2025/26. This continued commitment means more opportunities to build on the success of the past year and support even more initiatives that help people and places thrive.
