This Spring, we’re investing £400,000 improving the road network in Kirkcaldy.
We've contracted, Newlay Civil Engineering to resurface Chapel Level, Kirkcaldy from Broom Road roundabout to Hendry Road roundabout, from Monday 24 March to Friday 2 May 2025.
Location
Chapel Level is a busy, main road in Kirkcaldy and these works will have an impact on traffic flow and possibly cause delays. To keep traffic flowing, we’ll use lane closures; side road closures on Robert Adam Drive and Fair Isle Road; and there will be no right hand turn lanes.
Thank you for your patience and co-operation as we’re improving the road network in Kirkcaldy.
Works Programme
The works programme is split into ten sections - see map above. To reduce school transport delays during exams, we plan to start on section ten (Newtonmore Drive to Hendry Road roundabout) and then work from sections one to nine.
The Fair Isle junction (section five) will be carried out during the school holidays, 7-20 April. This will minimise disruption to school buses within Hollybrae. During this section of works, Hollybrae residents will follow a signed diversion via Rowanbrae roundabout - see map below.
The road closure on Fair Isle Road will have a signed diversion along Templehall Avenue and Hendry Road - see map below.
- Working hours - Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 5pm.
- Lane closures will be 24 hours a day.
- To keep road workers safe, the speed limit will be 20 mph during the works.
Bus Services
- The bus service for Robert Adam Drive will not be serviced during the road closures.
- The bus service that runs up Fair Isle Road will not service Fair Isle Road North and Chapel Level.
- Bus stops that are located on Chapel Level will be closed during the resurfacing of each section; passengers will be directed to the nearest available bus stop.
Notices will be placed on any affected bus stops. For more bus information please contact Stagecoach on 01592 645680 or visit www.stagecoachbus.com.
