Councillor Ian Cameron, Convener of the Kirkcaldy Area Committee, said: "I’m pleased we’ve been able to agree in principle how we’ll spend our Local Community Planning budget over the next three years. Obviously, we must be flexible in our approach given that none of us have a crystal ball and can tell what the future holds.
“We’ll continue to focus on the four priorities of Opportunities for all, Thriving Places, Inclusive Growth and Jobs and Community Led Services.
“In the Kirkcaldy area that means doing what we can to reduce poverty and help our young people realise their potential no matter the economic or social barriers. We also plan to maximise the tourism potential of the Kirkcaldy area and invest in facilities that will benefit our local communities.
“From a jobs perspective we’ll look to help increase small to medium sized businesses, focussing on jobs that are sustainable. We’ll also be encouraging our schools, college and training providers to work together to so that people have the skills needed in the job market.
“We’ll also be looking to continue to work with our communities so that they feel part of what’s going on and encourage a sense of ownership.
“We understand there will be challenges ahead, but with the collective effort of our residents and partners, we’re confident that we can achieve our goals and make the Kirkcaldy area a great place to live, work and visit.”
