Council central Fife battery recycling trial now postponed

Kerbside battery recycling trial postponed

Fife council has put its battery recycling trial that was set to start from Monday 31 March 2025 across some parts of central Fife on hold.

Alexander Anderson, Service Manager (Domestic Waste and Street Cleansing), Waste Operations, said: “Unfortunately, our battery recycling trial is now being postponed until later in the year. This is because we are reviewing the boxes that will be used to store the batteries in the bin lorries, as we want to make sure that they are both suitable in size and safe.

”As the trial is now postponed, local people should take their batteries to recycling centres, supermarkets, shops or charities, as usual. Fife Council will keep residents updated and advise on the new start date for the battery recycling trial."

Fife Council thanks local people for their patience.

Residents should continue to recycle batteries by taking them to local recycling centres, shops, or supermarkets. Many charities also accept battery donations.
