Community celebrates International Women’s Day with a week of inspiring events

Local ladies across Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly, Benarty, Kelty and Cardenden celebrate Internation Women's Day

Many local residents came together last week to celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, with a fantastic series of free events held across Cowdenbeath, Benarty, Kelty, and Lochgelly.

Organised by the Cowdenbeath area Community, Learning & Development Service, the events featured dance workshops, craft activities, inspiring guest speakers, and afternoon tea, creating welcoming spaces for women to connect, learn, and celebrate their achievements.

Cllr Linda Erskine, Spokesperson for Communities, said: "It’s been fantastic to see so many people coming together to celebrate International Women’s Day. The events were full of energy, fun, and inspiration, and I want to thank everyone who took part. A special thanks also goes to the amazing team who organised these celebrations and helped make this week such a success."

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, got involved, and helped make this year’s International Women’s Day one to remember. Let’s continue to support, uplift, and celebrate women—not just today, but every day!
