Celebrate Kinship Care Week with family fun day

Kinship Care Family Fun Day Fife Council’s Kinship Team is hosting a fun day in a joint celebration of its Kinship Team’s 10th birthday and Kinship Care Week. This event is for kinship carers and their families to have a fun day out and to have their voice heard and taken into consideration to shape the future of kinship in Fife.

The event will take place on Saturday 15 March 2025 at Michael Woods Sports and Leisure Centre, Glenrothes from 10am-4pm. The event will have activities including inflatables, The Gaming Van, a showcase of external agencies supporting kinship carers, sports activities, food provided by ‘RELISH IT’, and more.

Kinship carers and their families are welcome to come along.

James Ross, Fife Council Head of Children and Families of Criminal Justice said: “It’s been incredible to see how far our Kinship Team has progressed over the last decade and the strides they’ve made to support kinship carers. This event will be a great way for kinship carers and their families to connect and come together to have their voice heard.”

The Kinship Team would love to thank several organisations for helping make Kinship Care Week and this family fun day amazing for all our carers and families. Firstly, thanks to Fife Sports & Leisure Trust for gifting the hall, staff and inflatables. Huge thanks as well to: Siblings Reunited (STAR), Kinship Care Advice Service, Gingerbread, Scottish Families Affected by Drugs, Fife Young Carers, ANDYSMANCLUB, Barnardo's, Fife Council welfare assistants, Active Schools Fife, Fife Kinship Carers Ambassadors Group, Clued Up Project, Raith Rovers Community Foundation, and Relationships Scotland. And special thanks to Louise Mill for doing nails for our children and young people, and Christi Darcey for the haircuts.

There are a range of Kinship Care Groups within where carers can discuss issues affecting them and their own experiences with other local carers. Please contact Fife Kinship Team for information of times and venues of current groups running in your area.
