Polling districts and places review

A nine week consultation to review the Kingdom’s polling districts and places is underway.

Fife Council is looking to hear from interested people and groups as part of the statutory review.

This review makes sure that everyone has access to reasonable facilities for voting, including those who are disabled and, when a new polling place is considered, that it meets the accessibility needs of disabled people.  Constituency and local government boundaries are not covered by this review, only the polling places and district boundaries; that is the buildings used to vote in within the areas that are created by dividing a constituency or council ward into smaller areas.

Shona Cameron, service manager for electoral services explained: “We always try to make sure polling places are easy to find, accessible to everyone and within a reasonable distance from the majority of electors’ homes.  This review will help to ensure that we continue in this way and gives us the opportunity to hear the views of the voting public. However, it’s not always easy finding suitable premises in every area, so any suggestions for alternative premises are welcomed.”

“Accessibility is another important issue for us and we would welcome anyone with expertise in access for disabled people to comment on the proposals.”

You can find information and maps of the current polling districts and places online at Polling Places and Polling Districts | Fife Council.
