Milton of Balgonie Primary School to close

Fife Council's Cabinet Committee has decided today (Thursday) to permanently close Milton of Balgonie Primary School.

The school has been mothballed in recent years as there are no children enrolled. We recently held a full consultation on the proposal to close Milton of Balgonie Primary School and rezone the catchment areas of Coaltown of Balgonie, Pitteuchar East and Thornton Primary Schools.

Elected members have now considered the consultation report and made a decision to implement the proposal.

The Cabinet Committee's decision is subject to the council's internal governance procedures before it becomes final. If the council decides to implement the proposal, Scottish Ministers will be notified. They then have eight weeks to decide if they will call-in the proposal.
