Milton of Balgonie Primary School decision to be taken next month

Milton of Balgonie PS

The decision on whether or not to permanently close Milton of Balgonie Primary School will be made by Fife Council Cabinet on 6th June. In the meantime, the final consultation report is now available to see online.

Milton of Balgonie Primary School is currently mothballed as there are no children enrolled at the school. We recently held a full consultation on the proposal to close Milton of Balgonie Primary School and rezone the catchment areas of Coaltown of Balgonie, Pitteuchar East and Thornton Primary Schools. That report is now published and you can see the results at Final Report - Milton Balgonie PS closure (fife.gov.uk).

If you don't have access to a computer, you can see a copy in the Main Reception Fife House, or at Coaltown of Balgonie, Pitteuchar East and Thornton Primary Schools. Copies are also available at Auchmuty High School.

A decision on the school's future will be taken at the Cabinet Committee of Fife Council on 6 June 2024. Elected members will consider the Consultation Report and make a decision on whether or not to implement the proposal. This could be a whole or part closure, or they could choose to do neither.   You can access the Agenda and papers on our website a week before the committee date.
