Free bus travel is once again available for everyone in the City of Dunfermline area on Sunday 1, 8, 15 and 22 December 2024.
The City of Dunfermline Area Committee agreed to contribute their share of the devolved parking initiatives budget - £18,000 to this initiative. Free bus travel on the lead up to Christmas will encourage locals to visit Dunfermline City centre for gift buying and spending time with friends and families in the local restaurants, cafes and bars. The initiative will also:
- encourage people to travel in the city using sustainable public transport,
- support households that don’t have a car, and
- help reduce carbon emissions.
City of Dunfermline Convener, Cllr James Calder said: “Offering free bus travel on these key dates leading up to Christmas will help businesses, as it encourages people to use our local shops, cafes and restaurants.”
“Free bus travel makes sure those who don't have cars or drive also benefit and it encourages more people to take environmentally friendly travel in Dunfermline.”
The free bus travel on Sunday 1, 8, 15 and 22 December 2024 will only cover journeys made on Stagecoach and Bay Travel services within the Dunfermline zone area (see map).
