Fife schools improving over the holidays

Work complete at Westfield Nursery garden

WHILE the Kingdom’s school pupils enjoyed their summer holidays this year, Fife Council was busy improving school buildings across Fife.

Over £4 million was spent on 79 projects including refurbishing toilets, classrooms and nurseries, improving accessibility, upgrading dining facilities, window and roof replacements, and electrical and heating upgrades including installing heat pumps.

And major refurbishments of Lochgelly South primary school and Raith Lodge nursery have been also been completed.

Fife’s education spokesperson Cllr Cara Hilton welcomed the transformation of so many schools.

“This summer we have not only welcomed pupils to two new schools in Dunfermline as part of the new Learning Campus, but we have completed major improvement works across our school estate.

“This will make a huge positive difference to the teaching and learning environments for our staff and pupils and I’m proud of the way our services come together to get this work done for the benefit of all.”
