Denend Primary School in Cardenden is celebrating the remarkable achievement of its Parent Council, which was shortlisted for the final three in the “Community Initiative of the Year” category at the prestigious Parentkind PTA Awards 2024.
This recognition, from over 100 entries across the UK, highlights the Parent Council's dedication and hard work in making school life better and more inclusive, even in challenging times.
Headteacher Joanne Hughes shared her pride, stating:"Our Parent Council embodies the spirit of resilience and community that defines Denend Primary School. Their tireless efforts to create opportunities and joy for every child, regardless of circumstance, have left a lasting impact on our school and this national recognition is so well-deserved."
The Parent Council raised over £20,000 last year, funding vital playground improvements and hosting free community-focused events, including seasonal discos, pantomimes, and treats for all pupils. These initiatives makes sure no child misses out, creating moments of joy and togetherness for families in the area.
Cllr Alex Campbell, Convener for Cowdenbeath area committee added:"This achievement is a testament to the incredible work happening at Denend Primary School.
