Local communities will be consulted on six options for the future of sports and community use facilities when a replacement for Inverkeithing high school is built at the Fleet Grounds, Rosyth.
Fife Council's Cabinet Committee discussed the need for replacement sports and community use facilities in south and west Fife and agreed the options to be considered are:
- Retention and refurbishment of The Wing (including pool, community facilities, grass and synthetic pitches) at the existing Inverkeithing High School.
- Construction of a new pool with community facilities at Inverkeithing High School site.
- Construction of a new stand-alone pool at the Inverkeithing High School site.
- Construction of a new pool at the replacement High School on the Fleet Grounds site.
- Construction of community facilities without a pool within Inverkeithing.
- Provision of grass and synthetic turf pitches within Inverkeithing.
Council Leader David Ross said it was important to take into consideration the impact that the loss of Inverkeithing HS will have on the town, alongside the need for facilities that will serve the population of the wider South and West Fife area.
"The options being considered now need to be developed and appraised properly. It is important that due diligence is carried out on what could be a potential investment of around £20 million.
"Any decisions will be taken in the context of a wider review of our capital plan which will happen later this year."
