Changes to Fife bin collections reminder

Fife Council is reminding residents that major bin collection changes are being implemented from 14 October 2024. If anyone has not yet checked their updated calendar, the council is urging them to visit www.fife.gov.uk/bincalendar

Most households will see some change to their bin collection calendars due to the introduction of a new single shift pattern for waste service staff.  The frequency of collections, and the waste and recycling services delivered, will remain the same.

Cllr Jan Wincott, Spokesperson - Environment and Climate Change, Fife Council, said: “To improve services, most households will see a change to their collections. Even if your day stays the same, your bin colour collection rota (the order your household bins are collected in) may change. We know that waste and recycling services are very important and we encourage everyone to make a note of their new collection schedule to ensure that bins are placed at the kerb in time for collection.

“Please look out for your friends and neighbours and remind them to put their bins out. We really appreciate the work of our local ‘binfluencers’- those who take the lead in putting out the right bins on the right day, so that their neighbours can follow suit.

"I’d also like to thank everyone who is making the effort to reduce their waste and recycle. Recycling is key to combatting climate change, which is why we’re supporting Zero Waste Scotland’s Recycle Week ‘Don’t let it go to waste’ campaign that champions all the efforts we make to recycle.

“You can fit much more recycling in your bins by flattening cardboard boxes and squashing plastic bottles and drinks cans, whenever possible. If you need to wait a little longer than usual for one of your collections, there are some FAQs online to help you deal with any additional recycling or waste.

“If anyone cannot access their calendar online, or needs an alternative format, they can visit their local council customer service centre Customer Service Centres | Fife Council or call 03451 55 00 22.”
