Residents using Dalgety Bay Recycling Centre to dispose of household waste will be required to book an appointment in advance, from Monday 29 July.
The new booking system is being introduced for all vehicles due to increasing demand and congestion at the site causing safety risks to the public and site staff.
Cireco manage Fife’s recycling centres on behalf of Fife Council and Robin Baird, Chief Executive, Cireco, said: “This small recycling centre has a high volume of traffic which often causes heavy congestion both within the facility and in the surrounding area.
"A number of incidents at the site in recent months means that the booking measures already in place at Cupar and Ladybank Recycling Centres now also need to be introduced at Dalgety Bay.”
Councillor Jan Wincott, Fife Council Spokesperson for Climate Change and Environment, said: "Following a number of incidents at the Dalgety Bay Recycling Centre, a new advance booking system is being put in place to better manage demand at the recycling centre.
"This booking system will ensure that there is less congestion, and long queues, for residents attending the site, and it is expected to help further improve recycling rates. We thank residents for their patience and co-operation as the new system comes into effect."
The new booking system allows residents to reserve a slot for their preferred date and time. It will come into effect from Monday 29 July and slots will be available to book from today (Tuesday 23 July).
Fife Council’s Contact Centre is able to book a slot for those customers without internet access or for those who struggle to use the internet. Customers can telephone 03451 55 00 22 to arrange a booking.
