A night of celebrations for volunteers across the Cowdenbeath and surrounding areas!

Cllr Linda Erskine and Cllr Alex Campbell with volunteers from Lochgelly Lunches.

People from Cowdenbeath, Kelty, Lochgelly, Lumphinnans, Benarty, Hill of Beath, Crossgates, and Cardenden came together to honour and celebrate the incredible contributions of local volunteers at a special event held in Kelty Community Centre last week.

Held to show appreciation for the hard work and dedication of those who give their time to support the community, the evening brought together Elected Members, Fife Council staff and volunteers of all ages, including young people who have made a remarkable impact.

From tackling food poverty through food pantries, to supporting youth clubs, and helping to reduce social isolation through social clubs, these volunteers make a significant difference in the lives of others. The event also gave attendees a great chance to meet each other, share their experiences, and work together more closely in the future.

Cowdenbeath Area Convener, Cllr Alex Campbell, expressed his gratitude, saying: "Our volunteers are the backbone of our community, giving their time selflessly to support others. Whether it’s running food pantries, supporting social clubs, or helping at youth clubs, their efforts have a lasting impact. Tonight, we celebrate each and every one of them and the positive change they bring to our area. I’d also like to thank our driver for the evening, who ensured everyone could attend this special occasion without transport barriers.”

Special recognition was given to the young volunteers who actively contribute to youth clubs and activities, inspiring the next generation of community champions.

Pictures from the event capture the lively and joyful atmosphere, with volunteers coming together to celebrate their achievements. The evening was made even more special with live music provided by some of the talented volunteers, adding to the sense of fun and community spirit.
