Reduced price car park season tickets will continue in Kirkcaldy town centre for another year – until 31 March 2024 - thanks to £15,000 of funding from Fife Council’s devolved parking budget allocation for the area.
Members of the Kirkcaldy Area Committed have agreed to spend just over half of the £28,000 budget allocated to the Kirkcaldy Area for parking from the Council’s revenue budget.
The discounted season ticket was initially launched in October 2019 and has been a hit with people who park in the town centre. The ticket, which would usually cost £130 per quarter, is reduced to £60 per quarter and can be used in the following long stay car parks
- Hill Place
- Esplanade (car park B)
- Esplanade multi-storey
Councillor Ian Cameron, Kirkcaldy Area Committee Convener, said: “We’re committed to listening to what people tell us and car parking is definitely a topic that many of us are contacted about as local members.
“We said a few years ago that we would look at different parking options to get a better idea of what can and must be done on a more regular basis to help breathe life back into the town centre and the discounted season ticket has been popular, so I’m pleased we’re in a position to keep this going.
“The discounted season parking ticket works out at £20 a month, that’s less than £1 for all day parking in the heart of Kirkcaldy town centre.”
