Levenmouth Area Committee awarded £26,210 to continue supporting an increased Police resource in Levenmouth for seven months tackling antisocial behaviour.

This partnership approach - spearheaded by Police Scotland, started in 2019 and has returned excellent results each year, making a significant difference to residents’ lives.

Highlights from the 2022 report include:

* 28 vehicles seized.
* 388 people charged in connection with antisocial behaviour and road traffic offences.
* 18 people arrested on apprehension warrants.
* 81% decrease in motorbike related calls between 2018/2019 to 2021/2022.

Community Inspector, Matt Spencer said: “Police in Levenmouth are resolute in tackling antisocial behaviour robustly - with the local communities clear this remains a priority.

"To have this dedicated enforcement resource is key, along with the wider diversion and prevention work that we are involved in throughout the area.  We are grateful for the ongoing support, recognition and partnership-working shown by everyone involved in the Improving Levenmouth Together project.”

On behalf of committee, Cllr Colin Davidson welcomed the report and thanked everyone involved with the initiative for their hard work.

He said: “We’re pleased to hear the perception of crime is improving in Levenmouth but there’s still more needing done to address antisocial behaviour.

“Supporting this antisocial behaviour approach is a priority for Levenmouth. There’s clear evidence of a significant reduction in nuisance behaviour in Levenmouth following this initiative and the results have gained recognition within Police Scotland and Councils across the UK."
