Following the announcement of a national bank holiday on September 19, 2022 for the state funeral of Her Majesty the Queen, Fife Council will mark the day as a public holiday in line with many other public organisations.
All Fife Council nurseries and schools will be closed as well as council offices to mark the last day of the period of National Mourning. Emergency and critical cover will continue to be provided.
Bin collections on Monday will not go ahead. Plans are underway to deal with as much of the backlog as possible. Any bins not be picked up will be picked up on their next collection date. Recycling centres will also be closed and we're asking customers for their understanding and patience.
Libraries and leisure centres will be closed.
Scheduled gas servicing appointments will not now go ahead and a letter with a rearranged date will go out in the coming days.
Meals on wheels and social care residential support will operate as usual.
The council's emergency out of hours contacts will still be available on 03451 55 00 99.
Anyone who needs to contact social work in an emergency, or who needs urgent information relating to a birth, death or marriage should call 03451 55 00 99.
Tenants can report emergency housing repairs online or by calling 03451 55 00 99 if you don’t have internet access.
Services will resume on Tuesday September 20, and nurseries, schools and offices will reopen.
