Stage Status: Construction
A new active travel path between Fordell Firs and Crossgates was constructed along the B981 in 2021. It stopped just short of the landscaped area opposite the football ground in Crossgates. At the time, there were requests for the path to be extended further into the Crossgates, but, unfortunately, subsurface services prevented this from happening.
BT engineers have now completed their work and this will enable our contractor to start construction of the path extension during autumn 2024.
- Timeline: The construction work is scheduled to be completed by autumn 2024.
- Distance: 250m approx.
- Approximate infrastructure investment: £70,000
- Key features:
- A new shared pedestrian/ cycle track, approx. 3.0m wide, plus a 500mm safety strip
- Potential to extend the path further in the future
