Burntisland Railway Station Active Travel route - Harbour area

Stage status: Phase 3 is subject to design, consultation and land negotiations.

We are developing active travel routes to the railway station, in response to community requests. This includes one from Kirkbank Road and another from the west end of the High Street.

Phases 1 and 2, from Kirkbank Road to the Beacon Leisure Centre, are complete. Phase 3, focusing on the harbour area, is in the design stage with a public consultation. Construction of Harbour Place is expected to follow once land negotiations are finished.

The new route will improve walking, wheeling, and cycling access to local amenities like the leisure centre, harbour, and railway station. It will be accessible for everyone.

Timeline: Construction on Harbour Place is anticipated for 2025-26

Distance: 950m approx. Ph3 - Harbour Place (200m approx.) Path at the docks (750m approx.)

Approximate infrastructure investment: Ph3 - Harbour Place (£70k). Path at the docks (£TBC).

Key Features: A new active travel path segregated or remote from traffic.
