Glenrothes - Oak Bank, Cadham Road, and Pitcoudie Primary Active Travel Route

Stage status: Construction

A new active travel route is proposed between the Oak Bank development in Cadham, located on the former Tullis Russell site, and Pitcoudie Primary School. There will be additional links to Western Avenue (B969).

We've had community requests for active travel routes in the area. The route will help children travelling to Pitcoudie Primary School, as well as other community facilities/recreation opportunities in the area.

Works mainly comprise:

  • conversion of the existing footway to a 3.0m wide shared pedestrian/ cycle track, with verge/buffer strip
  • conversion of the pelican crossing to a toucan crossing
  • slight modifications to the mini roundabout, with installation of an informal crossing
  • erection of appropriate signing, and
  • refreshing the lining on the existing zebra crossing on Huntsman’s Road

Timeline: construction: on site late January 2025

Distance: 1km approx.

Approximate infrastructure investment: £140,000
