Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice explains how we use the information that we collect about you.
Fife Council records images via vehicle mounted CCTV for the purposes of public and employee safety and to assist with incident investigations. Cameras on vehicles are not monitored live at any time for surveillance purposes.
The personal information we gather and use includes information obtained via the images to the extent that individuals and personal vehicles may be identifiable.
CCTV images may be shared, upon request, with Police Scotland for crime prevention and detection purposes and with other third parties such as solicitors for purposes of legal proceedings. The downloading and sharing of images within Fife Council for the purpose of internal incident investigation is strictly controlled. Recorded images cannot be viewed by the drivers or crews of the vehicles.
We may also receive information about you from Police Scotland and other third parties (for example solicitors) in order to respond to their requests for copies of images for crime detection and prevention purposes or to assist with legal proceedings.
The Council will not keep your information for longer than is necessary. In some instances the law sets the length of time information has to be kept. The Council has a retention schedule which sets out how long we hold different types of information. This can be found in our Privacy Policy.
Further information on how your information is used and why can be found at fife.gov.uk/privacy. The Council's Data Protection Officer can be contacted at: dataprotection@fife.gov.uk.
