This Privacy Notice explains how we use the information that we collect about you.
Fife Council uses the personal information provided by you within your Scottish Welfare Fund application form in order to process this and decide whether your Crisis Grant/Community Care Grant/Covid-19 Self Isolation Support Grant is awarded.
We have statutory functions to carry out and process these application forms in terms of The Welfare Funds (Scotland) Act 2015.
The personal information we may gather and use includes name, national insurance number, contact details, date of birth, household members, income and expenditure, bank account details, test and protect reference number, benefits received, name of employer or nature of self-employment, weekly take home pay, expected pay during isolation and any other personal circumstances. At times we will share your information with other council services e.g. Housing, Social Work, Education. We may share your information with other local authorities and the Scottish Government.
We also provide your information to our suppliers to enable us to deliver this service.
We receive information about you from other local authorities and the Department of Work and Pensions.
We receive supporting information from you as a result of the additional proofs you provide to enable your application to be assessed for example, bank statements and benefit proofs.
We obtain information about you when you complete an application form or from previous Crisis Grant or Community Care Grant applications that you have submitted.
We gather information about you and depending on your circumstances may contact other individuals as a result of information that you provide for example, landlords or support workers.
We may, on occasion, contact you to seek feedback on the service we have provided to you.
In the event that we did not request and use this information then it would not be possible to carry out our statutory functions and determine your Crisis Grant/Community Care Grant/Covid-19 Self Isolation Support application.
The Council will not keep your information for longer than is necessary. In some instances, the law sets the length of time information has to be kept. The Council has a retention schedule which sets out how long we hold different types of information. This can be found here.
