Apply for a MyFife National Entitlement Card (NEC)

This Privacy Notice explains how we use the information that we collect about you.

Fife Council uses the personal information provided by you when you/your parent/guardian apply for a MyFife National Entitlement Card (NEC).  The card allows the recipient to access school meals, school library and moving forward discounted travel and can be used as proof of age.

We process your information for this purpose as part of our official authority/public task.

2. Please describe the categories of personal data processed by your Service or service:

The personal information we may gather and use includes Parents name, address, postcode, phone number, email address, child’s name, child’s date of birth and identification proofs, such as photographs or passports.

3. Any recipient or categories of recipients of the personal data:

We share your information with Dundee City Council who appoint suppliers to produce and send out the cards.  We also share your information with the Improvement Service on behalf of the Scottish Public Sector for validation purposes and with Transport Scotland to enable you to travel on Scottish public transport.

We may also share your information with other Council Services, such as Education/Catering.

We may also share your information with Young Scot for auditing purposes.

4. The source the personal data originates from and whether it came from publicly accessible sources (including information gathered about third parties eg where we have gathered information about a third party during discussions with a service user):

We receive information about you from you yourself when you apply for a NEC card.

5. Whether the provision of personal data is part of a statutory or contractual requirement or obligation and possible consequences of failing to provide the personal data:

In the event that we did not request and use this information then it would not be possible to provide you with an NEC card and service.
