Privacy Notice
This Privacy Notice explains how we use the information that we collect about you.
Fife Council uses the personal information provided by you in connection with your community council in order to maintain a database of community council contacts for public and Council use.
We have statutory functions to assist community councils in terms of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973.
The personal information we gather and use includes name and contact details of community councillors.
We make contacts (generally Secretary and Chair) publicly available.
We receive information about you from the Returning Officer at community council elections, and from the community council itself.
In the event that we did not request and use this information then it would not be possible to carry out our statutory functions and assist community councils, as well as administer the Scheme for Establishment of Community Councils in Fife.
The Council will not keep your information for longer than is necessary. In some instances the law sets the length of time information has to be kept. The Council has a retention schedule which sets out how long we hold different types of information. The retention schedule can be found on our Privacy policy page.
