Cash-First for Fife Privacy Notice
Fife Council are carrying out a pilot project to explore ways aimed at reducing the need for food banks. The focus of the project is to improve the dignity of access to emergency financial assistance in a crisis, and the provision of holistic support services to prevent future hardship.
Why we need your information:
Fife Council Cash-first services will process your information in order to:
- Manage your participation in this project;
- Refer you for a benefit calculation / check where appropriate;
- Refer your request for support to a third party. Third parties can include other authorised organisations or individuals.
Fife Council has a statutory duty in relation to the protection of public health and our legal basis for processing your information is Article 6(1)(e) and 6(1)(f) of the General Data Protection Regulations:
- For the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the Council
- For reasons of substantial public interest
What information we will need:
The personal information we gather and use includes:
- Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Home Address, Home Telephone Number, Mobile Number, E-Mail Address, Bank Details.
- Details of your benefit check request (if applicable) – this may include some health / medical / disability / residency status details in relation to your eligibility.
- Details of your circumstances to establish whether you are eligible for additional supports.
What we may do with your information:
Where it is necessary to progress offers of support, we may share your information with third sector partners/agencies to ensure correct advice is given.
We may also share your personal information with other Council Services, other local authorities, and organisations in the third sector that are providing additional support, where this is necessary to provide requested services and assess effectiveness of any support provided as part of the project.
You may be contacted during this pilot project to complete surveys from Fife Council or one of the partners within the wider Programme, which will assist with the evaluation of the project. Responding to these surveys is voluntary.
Where do we get your information:
To help households in need, we may also use the personal information provided by you as part of your Council Tax, Housing Benefit, DWP Benefits (including Universal Credit), Tax Credits, Rent or Council Tax Arrears, Discretionary Housing Payment, or applications to the Scottish Welfare Fund, to assess your eligibility for any additional benefits, grants or support.
What would happen if we didn’t collect your information:
If we did not request and use this information, then it would not be possible to carry out our statutory functions and provide you with a service.
We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
