This Privacy Notice explains how we use the information that we collect about you.
Fife Council uses the personal information provided by you to process and manage your Blue Badge application.
We have statutory functions to process applications in terms of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons' Act 1970 and The Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) Scotland Regulations 2000.
The personal information we gather and use includes name, address, contact details, date of birth and gender. We also require a photograph of the applicant.
For some applications, we also require medical information.
We share your information with the Scottish Government and its agencies (e.g. Transport Scotland) and the supplier that produces your Blue Badge. We may also share your information with other Council services.
If at any time you move from Fife and wish to retain your Blue Badge service with your new home Local Authority, at your request we will share your information with that Local Authority.
For some applications, we receive your information from the Scottish Government and its agencies (e.g. Transport Scotland) and/or other Council Services.
In the event that we did not request and use this information then it would not be possible to carry out our statutory functions and process your application or provide you with a Blue Badge.
There is no automated decision-making in relation to Blue Badges.
The Council will not keep your information for longer than is necessary. In some instances the law sets the length of time information has to be kept. The Council has a retention schedule which sets out how long we hold different types of information. The retention schedule can be found on our Privacy Policy page.
