Fife Council welcomes the views of individuals and communities on any development application it receives. Before you submit your comments, we would advise that you view the full application. To ensure that your comments are considered as part of the decision-making process they must be relevant. i.e. a Material Consideration.
Please note that you do not need to receive a Neighbour Notification letter to comment on an application.
Any petitions received with multiple signatures will be classed as one comment. We do not require signed documents or paper copies of any representations - one digital copy will suffice.
When making a representation where there is more than one application for that property/site, you should consider whether you wish to make a representation to each application, as they are assessed and determined individually. An example of this is when a site/property has a Full Planning Permission (FULL) application as well as a Listed Building Consent (LBC) application.
Back To TopUsing the online planning system is the quickest and easiest way to comment on a planning application.
You will need to register to make your comments. For guidance on registering please see our Accessing Information Online guidance on our view track and comment webpage. Once registered, you can then comment on applications, save details of searches you have made and track specific applications which interest you. By doing this you will receive notification of any change to applications that you are tracking.
Drawings or files cannot be attached to comments made through the online planning system. If you wish to provide attachments these should be emailed to development.central@fife.gov.uk. Please remember to include the application reference number. You may wish to read the supporting information Submitting Electronic Documents, which is available on our Planning guidance webpage.
We are unable to process files marked as ‘Secured’.
Back To TopYou can choose to submit your comments by emailing us at development.central@fife.gov.uk. Please include the application reference number (e.g. 24/00001/FULL) in the email subject line. This helps us match your comments to the correct application. Also, state clearly if you support or object to the application. We will confirm receipt of your comments.
If you wish to provide attachments you may wish to read the supporting information Submitting Electronic Documents available on our Planning guidance webpage.
Back To TopPlanning law requires that a period of 21 days, or 28 days for applications subject to an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), for comments to be submitted. To check the deadline for your comments to be received please use our online planning system. The Neighbour Consultation Expiry Date can be found on the Important Dates section of the Details tab within the online application file.
Comments submitted through the online planning system should be shown online within few days after the Neighbour Consultation Expiry Date. Written comments may take a few extra days to show up online as they need to be manually processed. For quicker processing, especially for applications with high public interest, we recommend using the online planning system.
We will remove any personal details such as telephone numbers, email addresses and signatures. Your name, address and comments will be made public.
Please note that the Council cannot be held responsible for any defamatory comments that appear on our website. However, we do reserve the right to remove any comments that we deem to be defamatory.
Once a decision has been made comments will no longer be available to read.
Back To TopOnce an application has been decided we will inform you via email for online/email comment submission and by letter for written comments. This will detail if the application was approved or refused and detail where more information can be found. The Decision Notice can be viewed on the online Planning System within the documents tab of an application.
