Existing/Proposed Elevations – Customer Tutorial

An elevation drawing is a flat, two-dimensional picture of one side of a building. It shows how the building looks from the outside, including details like windows, doors, and rooflines.  This plan should use an identified standard metric scale (of 1:50 or 1:100).

All existing and proposed elevations should be on the same drawing where possible to allow comparison.  This plan must demonstrate the proposed works in colour:

  • The plan should be at a scale of 1:100 or 1:50
  • A scale bar should be included as an indication of the measurement distance in relation to the scale of this plan
  • Details of all external finishing materials should be described on this plan.
  • If the proposed materials match EXACTLY that of the existing materials, this should be stated on this plan.

Note: Any plan that contains the disclaimer of “Do not scale” will be rejected - Plans for planning purposes must have a reliable accurate scale in order to be assessed.
