Emergency Work to Protected Trees

If the trees you would like to fell are dead or dangerous, 5 days notice should be given to the council before undertaking works. This will require evidence to be provided:

  • Photographs (of the tree and the area underneath);
  • A tree surgeons report; and
  • A statement explaining why expedited tree works are required

If the situation is an emergency, no application is needed. However, it is essential that you still collect evidence in the form of photohraphs and a tree surgeons report, as described above. This must be submitted to the council no later than 5 days after removal. In either case, replanting of the felled tress is normally required.
