Near Me is a video consultation service that allows people to have health and social care appointments from home or wherever is convenient.
Near Me is being used by Health and Social Care as an alternative way of delivering our statutory functions, particularly where face-to-face meetings are not possible. These functions are more fully explained in the Fife Health and Social Care Privacy Notice
Near Me video consultations are very similar to a face-to-face meeting with a social worker, or a related health professional. These employees will usually have access to some, or all, of the information that you may have provided previously which is now held in your records. Health and Social Care employees may take additional notes about you and your care provision during the video call – in the same way as they would in a normal appointment or meeting. This information will be held in accordance with Health and Social Care retention schedules.
Watch the video below for more information about accessing this service.
What do I need to make a video call?
All you need is a device for making video calls like a smartphone, and an internet connection.
- A good connection to the internet If you can watch a video online (e.g. YouTube) you can make a video call
- A private, well-lit area where you will not be disturbed during the consultation
- One of these: Google, Chrome, or Microsoft Edge web browser on a desktop or laptop, or on an Android tablet or smartphone (Safari web browser on an Apple iMac, MacBook, iPad, or iPhone)
- Web-camera, speakers, and a microphone already built into a laptop or mobile device. You can also use a headset with a microphone
