Information and Guidance about Local Place Plans

Community Map Scotland -  The Improvement Service and Parish Online have launched an easy mapping tool that will enable Community Councils and other community interest groups to map what is important to them and use these insights to have more of a say in what happens in their local areas. It could also be a useful way for community groups to engage with their citizens and highlight specific areas of interest or concern in their local areas. Community Councils can sign up using the code cms12. This will give 12 months of free access to the software.

Circular 1/2022: Local Place Plans - This Scottish Govt Circular provides guidance on the preparation, submission and registration of Local Place Plans.

Our Place - Local Place Plans - The Our Place website has been developed by the Scottish Govt and partner organisations to support collaborative place-based working across Scotland. The website includes a range of information relevant to Local Place Plans, place-making principles and approaches.

Planning Aid Scotland - Community-Led Plans – Planning Aid Scotland is a charity which helps individuals and community organisations get involved in in the planning system. Their website contains information about Local Place Plans and the support they are able to offer.

Legislation

The Planning (Scotland) Act 2019 provides the framework of the legislation for the delivery of Local Place Plans.

The Act is supported by the Town and Country Planning (Local Place Plans) (Scotland) Regulations 2021.
