You have the right to request an assessment for the need for Gaelic Medium Primary Education (GMPE) within Fife. This can only be considered if your child hasn't started school yet and is under school age.

Applications for Assessment of Need for Gaelic Medium Primary Education (GMPE)
On 15th January 2025, Fife Education Directorate received an application for an assessment of the need for GMPE in the local authority area. The Directorate has now completed an Initial Assessment in line with the Statutory Guidance for Gaelic Education. The Initial Assessment indicates that the threshold for a full assessment for GMPE has not been met at this time: GMPE Assessment of Need Response 15.01.25
On 23rd January 2025, Fife Education Directorate received an application for an assessment of need for GMPE in the local authority area. In accordance with the Statutory Guidance for Gaelic Education, Fife Education has determined that there is no evidence of a change in circumstances from the application dated 15.01.25. Therefore no further action is required at this time: GMPE Assessment of Need Response 23.01.25
