Proposed Amendments to the Council’s Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils
NOTICE is hereby given, that Fife Council (hereinafter the ‘Council’), in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 53(1) of the above mentioned Act, proposes to revoke the existing Community Council Scheme of Establishment and make a new Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils in Fife. The process by which the Council will consider whether to make a new scheme will be carried out in accordance with the required statutory consultation process.
A Special Meeting of the Council, held on 20 March 2025, agreed to a public consultation exercise on the proposed revocation and replacement of the current Scheme. In the first of the required consultations, the Council now invites suggestions and representations from the public on the draft scheme.

The initial consultation process will be held over one 12-week period and shall address the Scheme itself, together with associated documentation, including Community Council boundaries.
Any person or organisation wishing to make written suggestions or representations may do so by no later than 5pm on Friday 16 May 2025 by;
- filling in the online form available at
haveyoursay.fife.gov.uk/communities/community-council-consultation - emailing direct to cc.consultation@fife.gov.uk; or
- writing to the Head of Legal & Democratic Services,
c/o Business Support, 5th Floor West, Fife House, North Street, Glenrothes KY7 5LT.
Copies of the draft scheme are available for inspection at Fife House, North Street, Glenrothes, Fife, KY7 5LT or from local libraries throughout Fife.
Please note that the content of any suggestions or representations made and the details of the party or parties making such representations may appear in a publicly available report to the Council.
Previous consultation - 2021
Fife Council, following a Special Meeting held on 11th March, 2021, Fife Council, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it under Section 53 (3) of the above-mentioned Act, agreed to amend the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils, effective from 11th March, 2021.
