Capshard Primary School Nursery Extension

Capshard Primary School Nursery extension

The Capshard Primary School, Nursery & Community Hub has been designed to accommodate Nursery children within 3 modern playrooms and in addition has an innovative covered outdoor area which can be directly accessed from the playrooms.  The building also accommodates up to 50 Primary School pupils and a Community room for use by the wider local community throughout the day and evening.

The open plan nature allows flexibility which promotes creativity in use and in particular the interaction between the indoor and outdoor play space. These spaces have been designed to enable light and air to penetrate the full depth of the building through the naturally ventilated and daylit central spine.

The Capshard Primary School, Nursery & Community Hub provides modern, innovative spaces which are flexible to allow creative teaching and inspired learning. The covered external playroom in particular is a new type of space within Scotland which will provide opportunities for exciting and stimulating activities for the children.

Throughout the design stages the Fife Council Education Directorate, School and Community Group were fully involved with the design and briefing process to ensure the building delivered the quality and innovation that was required for the young learners in Fife.  The project was delivered in partnership with Property Services, Building Services and supported by local contractors.
