General support from Fife Council and partners
We will carry out the Enhanced Disclosure process and property checks to ensure guests are in a suitable and safe home.
Our Resettlement Team will provide advice and assistance to help you settle. We will provide immediate financial assistance and will keep in touch throughout the sponsoring period to make sure the arrangements are continuing well.
If you have additional needs and requires more support from us, we will put this in place.
Only those who arrive through the Homes for Ukraine and Super Sponsor schemes can get immediate financial assistance from a Local Authority. We will issue this payment once you have arrived and we have confirmed your information.
Here are some things you can do to help:
Universal Credit
- Registering for Universal Credit should be done as soon possible following your arrival in the UK. You can start filling out your Universal Credit claim online.
- Claims can also be started by visiting the nearest JobCentre Plus
- If you need help with a Universal Credit claim, call the Universal Credit helpline on 0800 328 5644 13, and you’ll get free support from trained advisers
- A Help to Claim service is also provided by Citizens Advice
As well as UK Government benefits, families may be entitled to wider benefits available through Social Security Scotland. For more information on the range of benefits available, please visit the Scottish Government's Benefits page.
Improving English language helps with settling in and feeling a part of the local community. For information on accessing English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes, contact abe.esol@fife.gov.uk or call 0800 7835161.
Back To TopYes. Ukrainian arrivals are entitled to access travel concessions, through our National Entitlement Card scheme.
Young people aged 5-21 living in Scotland can also apply for a Young Persons' Free Bus Travel card.
Dedicated staff within Fife Council are assigned to help you with the card application process. Please contact the Concessionary Travel Team on concessionary.travel@fife.gov.uk if you need any help.

You should register as an NHS patient as soon as possible after you arrive in Scotland. Visit www.NHSinform.scot/care-support-and-rights to find your nearest practice and to download a registration form. You won’t have to pay for this service.

Sexual Health Fife provides a range of sexual, reproductive and emotional health services. Phone advice is available on 01592 64 79 79 Monday to Friday, between 8.30am and 4pm.
These are the services you can expect to find;·
