Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs) are produced as part of the committee reporting and budget setting process. The Equality Act 2010 introduced a new public sector equality duty which requires public authorities to try to:
- eliminate discrimination and harassment victimisation
- advance equality of opportunity, and
- foster good relations between and across a range of protected characteristics
Impact assessments are a way of assessing the effects or impacts of a council policy or function on removing barriers to equality. Equality impact assessments which have an impact (positive or negative) on service users and / or employees will be published here.
