Information Required for the Benefits Calculator Appointment

You may be asked to provide information based on your circumstances and the income/benefits you already receive. This may also include anyone else in your household, e.g. grown-up children.

If you do not know how much benefits you get, and you have an award letter from the Department for Work and Pensions, this will tell you the name of the benefit(s) you receive. This is also the best way to find out how much you currently receive in benefits.

Alternatively, when Department for Work and Pensions put money into your bank account, there is normally a label attached to the relevant line on your bank statement. This will show the initials of the benefit you get.

Please note: You will receive an estimate of your entitlement to benefits from the information you provide.

If you receive any of the following benefits, you will need to provide the amount (£) of benefits you currently receive and the frequency in which you receive this.

  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Support JobSeekers/Employment & Support Allowance
  • Receive Maternity Allowance/Paternity/Adoption pay
  • Receive Occupational Maternity/Paternity
  • Adoption Pay
  • Bereavement Support Payment or Widowed Parent's Allowance
  • War pension or war widow(er)'s pension
  • Armed Forces Compensation Scheme Payment
  • Service Attributable Pension or Attributable Service Invalidity Pension
  • State Pension
  • Contributory Benefits
  • Universal Credit

If you have a disability/sickness, and receive any of the following benefits, you will need to provide the amount (£) of benefits you currently receive and the frequency in which you receive this.

  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Disability Living Allowance - Care
  • Disability Living Allowance - Mobility
  • Carer's Allowance
  • Incapacity Benefit
  • Personal Independence Payment or Adult Payment Daily Living
  • Armed Forces Payment
  • Industrial Injuries

If you have any of the following income, you will need to provide the amount (£) and the frequency in which you receive this.

  • Income from non-state pension
  • Fostering Allowance
  • Savings over £6k
  • Maintenance Payments
  • Charity or Voluntary Income
  • Land or Property Income
  • Investments and/or other capital
  • Income from other source

If you have a mortgage, you will need to provide the following information:

  • Amount of mortgage you need help with
  • How much do you pay in other housing charges, e.g. ground maintenance or factor fee

For Council Tax, you will need to provide the following information:

  • Council Tax Band
  • Disability Reduction
  • Council Tax Discount
  • Number of Bedrooms

If you rent your property, you will need to provide the following information:

  • Eligible Rent
  • Period (Week/Month/4 weeks/Yearly)
  • Paid Directly to Landlord
  • Rent Free weeks (Fife Council Tenants only)

If you have made a claim for Universal Credit, you will need to provide the following information:

  • Date of claim
