Interview and assessment arrangements

Shortlisted candidates will require to participate in a range of assessment activities including behavioural profiling, a real play exercise (with stakeholders)and a values/competency based interview.  These activities will all contribute to testing candidate competence.

It is anticipated that shortlisted candidates will be notified by Friday 17th January 2025.

If shortlisted, you will be asked to complete a behavioural profiling exercise during Monday 20th January or Tuesday 21st January 2025. The real play exercise will be in person in Fife House on Thursday 23rd January 2025 and the formal interview will take place in person in Fife House on Monday 27th January 2025.


Pre-emplyment checks

Right to Work in the UK

We have a legal duty to ensure that all Fife Council employees have the right to work in the UK.

To ensure we meet these obligations and to prevent illegal working, shortlisted candidates will always be asked to provide documents to confirm their right to work in the UK.  For more information about suitable forms of ID, visit the Home Office Website.

Employment references

We will seek references covering the 3-year period before appointment.  A minimum of two references will be required, including one from your current or most recent employer.  References will be taken up for the successful candidate only.

Evidence of qualifications

All shortlisted candidates are asked to bring evidence of the qualifications to interview if they are essential to the job.

PVG Scheme Membership

This role requires dual PVG scheme membership as it involves regulated work with children and protected adults.    A PVG check will be carried out as part of your pre-employment checks by the Shared Service Centre Recruitment Team.

Registration with Regulatory or Professional Body

This role includes a requirement to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

If the successful candidate is not registered with SSSC, they will have three months to apply for registration to ensure they are registered within the required six-month period.   If the successful candidate is already registered with SSSC, they must link their registration to Fife Council as soon as possible using MySSSC.

Pre-Employment Health Screening

Any offer of employment is subject to satisfactory Pre-Employment Health Screening to ensure the successful candidate is fit to undertake the duties of the role.  Checks are initiated by the Shared Service Centre Recruitment Team based on job requirements and where required, information is reviewed, and assessments carried out by Occupational Health.

Overseas Criminal Record Checks

The Shared Service Centre Recruitment Team will notify the candidate if an Overseas Criminal Record Check is required.   This is where PVG scheme membership is required but Disclosure Scotland are unable to check the criminal history of candidates from some overseas countries.  The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining an overseas criminal record check where they have lived overseas for 12 months or more (continuously or in total) in the last 10 years, while aged 18 or over.  If a translated check from the country involved is required, it will be at the candidates expense.

Provision of false information

Candidates should also note that the provision of false information or the omission of material information in their application or at interview may lead to the offer of employment being withdrawn or summary dismissal.
