Rosslyn School is a purpose-built special school located as part of Windmill Community Campus incorporating Viewforth High School, a local library and a local council office.
Currently the school caters for pupils with complex additional support needs within the Kirkcaldy area. Pupils range in age from 3-18 years and we have links for inclusion opportunities with our local Nursery, Primary Schools and Secondary provision.
The school currently has four classrooms, a life-skills room and a multi-purpose room.
The school has a sensory room and calm room and has developed an outdoor sensory area which is accessible to all.
We work very closely with parents and other professionals to deliver a curriculum designed to meet individual needs.
Each class has a Class Teacher and a team of Pupil Support Assistants who plan for and deliver a curriculum with a focus on learning in context. We access community resources including local shops, swimming pools and make use of local buses as well as having our own adapted mini-bus.
We have an open door policy and welcome parents at any time as well as visitors who wish to see our lovely facilities.
Dear Parent
Fife Council Education Service provides appropriate education for all children living in Fife.
Where your child goes to school will depend on where you live and what your child's educational needs are.
Rosslyn School provides education for children and young people 3 - 18 years with complex additional support needs who live in Kirkcaldy, Burntisland and Kinghorn areas.
Rosslyn School follows Curriculum for Excellence with an emphasis on Pre Early and Foundation milestones. Class groups are small and require a high level of support to ensure learners can overcome barriers to learning.
This booklet provides you with an overview of Rosslyn School, the aims of the school and how we implement them.
We are always happy to welcome parents who are looking at a range of educational provisions available for their child and to answer any questions you may have.
Yours sincerely
Jackie Urquhart
