The school, has its own fenced grounds, adjoining Denbeath Primary. The front area is laid in tarmac which has been set out with a range of planters, wooden tables and chairs, coloured soft pour play areas with frames for our adapted swings. A section of the outdoor play area to the front and side of the school has been painted with mini road markings, zebra crossing, traffic lights and playground games etc. There is a large storage container at the back of the school containing a large selection of adapted bikes, trikes, scooters and outdoor games, which the pupils use daily on the area at break or PE times.

We have further added to our established Raymond Gunn Sensory Garden to the side of the school which now includes raised planting beds, troughs, for sensory play, a mud kitchen, music and water walls, sensory activities and storage areas for tools. Inside the school, we have five classroom areas, a multi-purpose room timetabled for use as kitchen-based life skills, a quiet area for intensive interaction/support and a staff room.

We have a gym hall used for PE activities and larger school events, a small accessible swimming pool, a sensory dark room, equipped with sensory equipment and resources and a number of changing / toilet areas.

We have a Pupil Support Nurse’s office on the ground floor which is accessible to all of our learners and parents. This room is used for familiarisation programmes as well as various clinics. Most staff are CALM trained (Crisis, Aggression Limitation and Management) and we have a safe adapted calm room where, if required, pupils can retreat to self-regulate and help reduce the risk of harm to themselves or others.

The small upper landing area has the Headteacher’s office with meeting space and a Learning Centre space for use by Teachers and Pupil Support Assistants to support their professional development and preparation/administration tasks.

Unfortunately, our Parent Council ceased just before lockdown, however, we are keen for this to be re-established and would encourage parents/carers to join.

Daily Timetable

• School starts at 9.00 am,
• Morning Breaks at 10.15,
• Lunch at 12.00
• and the end of day is at 3.00 pm

School Uniform

School Uniform is not compulsory, however some families feel it benefits their child to identify with attending school.
