Strathallan Primary School

We track pupil achievement and rewards are issued. "Yellow slips" are given out to the children who put them into their personal files to show successful learners - children can gain a bronze/silver/gold award. "Pheasants" are issued and displayed in children's personal folders acknowledging Responsible Citizens. Again these awards are rewarded through special certificates from the Headteacher and Depute Headteachers. Personal achievement is recognised and valued. At assemblies children are keen to talk about these, photographs are taken and displayed to acknowledge our pride.

At Strathallan, inclusion is in evidence. We have a number of children from different ethnic backgrounds and a significant number of children who have additional support needs. Respect is shared between pupils/staff/parents. We are active in promoting the 4 capacities. As a school we raise funds to support charities. We won the national competition of Show Racism The Red Card (for the second year running!). We promote our Scottish heritage through our Scottish Poetry Competition in which all children participate. Competitions and fundraising events are open to all children - we celebrate and publicly acknowledge the talents of all.

Strathallan Primary School opened in January 2007. The school lies to the west of Kirkcaldy and is part of the Balwearie High School Cluster. The school lies within a large housing estate and is bordered by the beautiful Raith Estate. We have built up a very positive relationship with the Laird and we are making use of an area within the woods to develop outdoor learning opportunities.

We have 13 classrooms, a library, several tutorial rooms, a music room and a base for our Support for Learning teacher.

Our nursery has two rooms and a beautiful, safe outdoor area. We have a large gym hall and dining room separated by a partition enabling us to fully meet requirements linked to PE provision. We hold a large number of events within these rooms. We also have a community lounge and parents' nursery room. Both rooms are utilised through the provision of “soft start” and “soft finish”.

The school is exceptionally well resourced with all rooms, including our nursery, having interactive whiteboards.

The playground is large, with a tarmac area. There is a grass area to the left and an area we are currently working on as a school development for our eco garden. We have installed wooden play equipment and an imaginative den in the playground.

We have a covered area for inclement weather and seating outdoors. We have excellent security systems and CCTV on the premises.

We have an out of school club who use some facilities Monday – Friday from 3.05pm to 6pm.

School Uniform

Our school colours are purple and silver. The uniform is a purple sweatshirt and a white shirt/blouse. Our tie is purple and silver. Trouser/skirts are grey.

Our nursery has purple polo shirts available as optional.

At Strathallan Primary we believe that children should be proud to be part of the school. The wearing of our uniform helps us create a very positive ethos where everyone is part of our school community. Our parents fully support this initiative.
