St Serfs R C Primary School

St. Serf's is a Roman Catholic primary school with a strong tradition, as a village school, of welcoming pupils of other faiths and ethnic backgrounds. We work hard to promote a positive ethos, where every child is valued and cultures and differences respected.

We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum with the highest standards of teaching and learning appropriate to the needs of all the children.

Working in partnership with parents, the Church and the wider community we strive to promote their spiritual, moral, physical, social and intellectual development.

Achievement and attainment in and out of school are recognised and celebrated at our weekly assembly through Star of the Month and our school awards for Citizenship and Discipleship.

Christian values of patience, forgiveness and reconciliation should be evident in the personal example of staff in their approach to discipline and in their interactions with each other.

St. Serf's Primary School is a Catholic school situated in the former mining village of High Valleyfield, serving the village itself and the surrounding area.

The school is beautifully sited on the outskirts of the village with a large field at the back of the school overlooking surrounding hills and valleys. The front of the school looks onto Preston Street.

It is a semi open plan building with seven class areas accommodating five classes, a Learning Support base and a computer suite. There is a small social area for parents between the Nursery and Primary 1 classroom. There is a C.P.D. room for staff.

The hall is circular. It is used for a variety of purposes - PE, drama, assemblies, performances and parent meetings.

All classes have their own toilets, exit/entrance. All exits have push bars. The school is 100% secure. The main entrance has a security system in place. The interior of the school is alarmed and we have C.C.T.V. on the outside of the building which has greatly reduced vandalism.

• 9.00am to 3.00pm

School Uniform

School Uniform consists of black trousers/skirt, red or white polo shirt or shirt and red/black tie.

P1-7 wear a red sweatshirt or cardigan.

School ties can be purchased from the School Office.

PE uniform consists of black or red shorts and white tee shirt and gym shoes.

Please note - we would rather your child did not wear jewellery to school as during PE lessons it can be dangerous and if lost can cause sadness and unhappiness.
