Sinclairtown Primary School

Sinclairtown is a very caring and inclusive school, welcoming everyone into our school community.

We have a very successful ‘Buddy System’ which operates for pupils from our associated nursery right through to P7. Every child is either a buddy or is ‘buddied’ by an older child. We are a ‘Rights Respecting School’ and everyone is expected to follow the pupil charters which they have established.

‘Cool In School’ restorative approaches are developed from P1 onwards enabling children to develop positive relationships and avoid conflict.

We have a well established House System which involves all pupils in earning house points in recognition of effort and achievement both in and out of school. Certificates are presented and pupils are celebrated on our wall of fame.

Our vision is to create a happy, secure, stimulating and challenging environment where pupils have the opportunity to achieve their full potential and grow to be caring, confident, responsible citizens with a passion for lifelong learning.

Sinclairtown endeavours to have a positive impact upon the local community. We have worked with local residents to address the congestion outside school. We cultivate our own allotment. We get involved in beach cleans. We entertain local elderly care homes and gather food for the local homeless.

Globally pupils are encouraged to be aware of what is going on in the world. Each year the pupils decide who they would like to support, why and how? We have ‘walked for water’, supported Red Nose Day, Children in Need, MacMillan Nurses and the Community Centre (Happy Days) on St. Clair Street.

The school is situated in the East of Kirkcaldy and is part of the Viewforth High School cluster group of Primaries. The building is bright and welcoming. It was built in 1932 and the accommodation is arranged in 7 double class areas around an internal quadrangle. The school sits in extensive grounds with hard and soft play surfaces and beautiful views across the River Forth. We have a music room, gym hall, dining room, ICT suite, medical room, additional support needs base, science room, staff learning centre and a library. We enjoy close links with Gallatown Nursery and Rosslyn School, the local specialist provision. Sinclairtown is a substantial building in which we provide a substantial education.

School Uniform

The wearing of school uniform is expected, and most children do wear school uniform.

Uniform for girls:

• navy (or dark grey) skirt
• light blue polo shirt, blue (or white) blouse
• *navy sweatshirt, school tie

Uniform for boys:

• navy (or dark grey) trousers
• light blue polo shirt, white (or grey) shirt
• *navy sweatshirt, school tie

*These items can be bought from Schoolwear shop on the High Street, Kirkcaldy.

No hoodies, leggings or jeans should be worn to school.
