Saline Primary is the only school in Saline and serves the rural villages of Saline and Steelend plus the surrounding farming fraternity. Most pupils are within walking distance of the school with the outlying children arriving by minibus/local service bus.

The first phase of Saline Primary School was built in 1875. This two storied main building houses 4 classrooms, gym hall, school reference and lending library/storage/first aid area, as well as the staff room and staff toilet, plus a reading resource room and Head Teacher office.

The separate "new" two storied building accommodates 3 classrooms, the dining room, a cloakroom, storage cupboards and the school office. Building provision has been enhanced by joining the two main buildings, completed in July 2008. The Nursery is housed in a separate building within our grounds. There are strong links between the nursery and primary 1 class

Tarmac play areas surround the school. We are developing an area to the rear of the school with planters and benches to enhance our playground and are also improving our Nursery garden. There is no specific school car parking provision but the limited community car park and bus turning provision is accessible via a lane which adjoins the rear of the playground.

• Lunch: 12.35 p.m. - 1.20 p.m
• Afternoon: 1.20 p.m. - 3.00 p.m.
• Interval: 10.35 a.m. - 10.55 a.m.
• Nursery Hours 9.00 a.m. - 3.00 p.m.

• Navy or grey trousers, skirt or pinafore
• White shirt and school tie or
• White polo shirt
• Navy sweatshirt or cardigan
• Appropriate dark coloured footwear
• Blue and white gingham summer dress

Sports Kit - Navy/black shorts, red, green, blue or yellow t-shirt depending on house colour
