Pitcoudie Primary School

At Pitcoudie Primary School we strive to promote our Vision and Values by providing appropriate learning opportunities and experiences. We believe every child should be given the chance to be a confident and successful individual, making informed choices and decisions which make positive contributions to the life of the school and wider community.

We aim to:

• to provide a safe and stimulating environment which encourages children to become Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Responsible Citizens.
• to support pupil's progress in achieving their full potential.
• to create an ethos where pupils, parents and staff effectively work together to enhance our pupils' education.

Achievements by pupils in school are regularly celebrated. This can be at our regular assemblies or on a daily basis through the House of Points system. Out of school achievements are also recognised and shared within school. Opportunities are provided throughout the year for the pupils to present their learning to the school community and to represent Pitcoudie at cluster and Fife wide events.

Positive behaviour is encouraged with pupils rewarded for their hard work and effort through effective feedback using house points, Positive postcards and Headteacher Awards. We encourage pupil voice and development of leadership skills through school committees, including Eco-Schools, Rights Respecting, Pupil Council, Sports, Digital Leaders and House Captains.

Pitcoudie Primary School was opened in 1978 to serve the Barlfarg, Cadham and Pitcoudie areas of Glenrothes.

The main school building comprises:

• four open plan wings, each accommodating two or three classes
• one wing with a large classroom area and an ICT Suite
• a Learning Support base
• games hall / dining area
• an auxiliary support base
• a nurture area
• side rooms / resource areas / storage areas
• office accommodation

Expansive and attractive grounds are used for play, outdoor games and sports, a Music Room and a Drama Room and a new, purpose-built 50/50 Nursery.

The school aims to create an ethos where pupils, parents and staff work together in partnership to produce the highest possible standard of education for all pupils.

Morning : 9.00 am - 12.35 pm
Interval : 10.40 am - 10.55 am
Lunch : 12.35 pm - 1.20 pm
Afternoon : 1.20 pm - 3.00 pm

9:00 am – 3:00 pm

School Uniform

We have met with a number of our pupil groups who have in turn gathered feedback from classmates. Through these discussions we have agreed our uniform is as follows:

• Sweatshirt – green or grey. Green is preferred if purchasing new as pupils have shared they would like to phase out the grey as green is our school colour.
• Primary 7 only - P7 pupils have the option of ordering a black jumper.
• Polo Shirt/Shirt – green or white
• Jade and silver ties - optional if wearing collared shirt
• Skirt/Dress/Trousers/Shorts – grey or black (trousers may include plain black leggings or joggers).
• Shoes/trainers – black

Gym Days

Our Sports Committee gathered feedback from children and staff across the school. Many have preferred coming to school in gym clothes on gym days rather than changing in school. This has been taken into consideration and the committee and supporting staff have agreed the following:

• If coming to school in gym clothes these must be plain black joggers/leggings (shorts if weather permitting), t-shirt with school jumper/cardigan on top.
• If your child wishes to wear something else for gym then they can bring this with them and change in the changing rooms or designated area, at the start of the gym session.
