Freuchie Primary School

At Freuchie Primary School and Nursery we have created a safe and nurturing environment so all of our children can flourish.  We like to celebrate the achievements of pupils in and out of school. We regularly celebrate success in the classroom, playground and community via our assemblies, our displays and in conversation with our young people.

We encourage leadership in our school with pupil voice at the heart of much of what we do. Our pupil voice groups currently run monthly and are Pupil Council, Rights Respecting Schools, Eco/Global Goals, Active and School of Joy. We also have a junior Road Safety Team.

Our Peer Mediators, Playground Buddies and Active Schools Playground Leaders are all on hand to support the wellbeing of others.

Each of our pupils has a voice which they use as part of their learning journey and in the wider life of the school. We know our children well which gives them the confidence to be open, ambitious and honest when at school.

Freuchie Primary School is situated in the village of Freuchie in North East Fife. It serves the village and surrounding hamlets. Its local Secondary School is Bell Baxter High School in Cupar. ​

The main building is Victorian with more recent additions and we are currently in the mists of a building project to add a new gym and dining hall. There are two additional, temporary buildings providing classroom and dining room accommodation. For P.E. we use our outdoor space a great deal, alongside the church hall. Our grounds are adjacent to the famous Freuchie Cricket Club and we have a football field directly across the road and we have a sports court (MUGA) in our playground. The sports court is a community venture with Freuchie Community Council and is used by community members out with the school day. We also use the village church hall, which we access through our playground. Our nursery is contained within the main building and has its own outdoor play area. The school has a large playground and outdoor classroom. ​

Pupils are currently organised in four classes (P 1/2, P3/4, P4/5/6 and P6/7) and a nursery class.

Throughout the session there are opportunities for after school and lunchtime clubs which run at different times of the week, subject to demand and coach availability these are all free of charge. The school office will provide you with more information on these clubs.

We encourage all children to dress smartly in the school's uniform:​​

• White shirt, blouse or polo shirt ​​
• Grey or black trousers/ skirt/pinafore ​
• Blue school sweatshirt or cardigan​​

​​Children should come to school in PE/ sports kit on their set PE days. These are currently Tuesday and Thursday for all children.

We ask that all items of clothing are labelled with your child's name. This helps us to reunite lost items with their owners. ​​
